Hadeda Creative is… CREATED!

Just prior to the birth of my first-born daughter, I created Hadeda Creative with the help of a previous boss, current friend and business mentor. The aim for the company: To be able to offer multiple services to more than a single client, while freeing myself to be able to work on a flexible schedule enabling me to live life with a young family to the fullest.

So… Why “Hadeda Creative”? And what is a hadeda it and what does it mean?

Pronounced “Hah-Dee-Dah”, the name originates from an African ibis commonly known for its distinct call and iridescent patches of colour on its wings.

Originally from South Africa, I bring a unique international viewpoint and experience to the Canadian creative landscape.

I chose Hadeda because it shows my roots as a South African. Anyone who knows this word should smile at seeing the name, the logo and the branding. For Canadians, who most likely do not know what a Hadeda Ibis is, should find the word engaging, at the least, and have a want to find out what it all entails.

The quill idea came from wanting to use something that ties both the Hadeda and being creative, together. Naturally a Hadeda feather turned into a quill was the only way to go. Small details in the logo I particularly like are the HC in the tip section, which is supposed to look like the binding for the nob onto the feather. This is both in reference to the H & C in Hadeda Creative, and mine and Heather’s first initials.
